Thanks to Peggy for hosting this:FOR TODAY... March 29, 2010
Outside my window... It’s overcast, without much rain unfortunately.
I am thinking... of Eden and Nathan at Youth Camp, and hoping that they have a wonderful time.
I am thankful... for the husband the Lord gave me.
I am wearing... Denim skirt, turquoise and light-green checked shirt, moccasins.
I am remembering... not much today.
I am going... to be tidying and cleaning the younger kids’ rooms this week. I’ve done Keren’s and thrown away a whole bag of junk/broken toys, given away about two bags of old toys, and put aside two big bags of old clothes. I’m feeling lighter already!
I am currently reading... The Five Love Languages for Children. (still ploughing through it…)
I am hoping... to find some free time to scrapbook this week.
I am hearing... Keren talking, Jordan ‘talking’ and not much else – it’s very quiet today (the two eldest are at camp, and the next two are at my parents’ house)
From the learning rooms…holidays….
Noticing that...the slightest little thing seems to send me off the deep end… (sigh) I need to distress too…
Pondering these words… “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations…” 2 Peter 2:9
From the kitchen… Haven’t planned this week’s meals yet. There are only four of us to cook for – how strange! I think it’ll be something with chicken.
Around the house... Daniel’s rabbits got out during the night, I only managed to capture one – the other is still at large! I had the carpets cleaned last week which is a relief, so now I need to declutter, organize, rearrange, declutter, clean, organize….
One of my favorite things… My first cup of coffee in the morning (with a rusk!)
Plans for the rest of the week… Fetching the kids tomorrow, Eden has an extra music lesson in the afternoon too; preparing for the long weekend, planning food for the same, enjoying the holidays with the kids! (Very important!!)
From my picture journal…

I plan to tackle my kids' rooms this week, too. Decluttering is a slow, but absolutely necessary, chore that I have been working on for several weeks ... let's just say that our garbage men will earn their money today!
ReplyDeleteI just finished that wonderful first cup of coffee, but I have a question ... what is a "rusk?"
Relax, destress, and have a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, rusks are like cookies in a way. Dough baked in a loaf or a pan, then cut into fingers and dried out slowly in a warm oven for a few hours. Delicious dipped into coffee!! Do you have things like this in the USA?
ReplyDeleteFelicity, I understand the need to distress too. xox
ReplyDeleteWe goof around at home whenever someone's stressed. We say the 3 R's. Relax, Relate, Relesae. And then Breathe. xox
God bless you, sister.
The rusks I know are part of my Norwegian inheritance =) Makes me think of Melba Toast maybe? My memory is that you cut the bread dough into rounds (that's what I remember seeing, I think -- I would be more efficient and cut squares/rectangles with knife, like I do with biscuits so there's no leftover dough to re-roll), then bake very slowly to dry them out. I am not old enough (ha ha) to like coffee yet, so I would probably have to dunk one in a glass of milk ;-)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great holiday week, Felicity - Wish I could send you some of our ground moisture ;-)
I'm not sure ... it may be like lady fingers, but I'll have to research it and see. They sound great. I like to dip oatmeal cookies in my coffee!
ReplyDeleteSounds like biscotti :D
ReplyDeleteAlso sounds like you're having a lovely holiday week. We're taking the week off after Easter, because that's when the neighbor kids will be off and free to play.
Oh, I'm ready for some spring cleaning. I call it "The Urge to Purge"!
Happy Easter,
Julie
Hmmm, the recipes I've seen for biscotti aren't quite like our rusks... And although I've heard of lady fingers, I'm not sure they're the same. Tell you what - I'll post one or two rusk recipes, and if you're feeling like baking, try them out - and then tell me what you think!? I'll go and hunt out some good ones...
