The Simple Woman's Daybook #30

FOR TODAY... August 16, 2010

Outside my window... Darkness. Today was 27 degrees though (celcius) which made it very much like summer!
I am thinking... about how I am feeling about getting rid of my baby stuff. It’s like closing a chapter of my life.
I am thankful for… Eden and Nathan doing well in the Eisteddfod, Eden getting over a bad dose of flu, Jordan’s arm which is much better, the safe delivery of my new little nephew on Saturday morning!
I am wearing... Pink jersey with a pink/brown/purple skirt.
I am remembering... 16 years ago – how it felt to be a brand new mommy – proud and a bit scared…
I am currently reading... Nothing at the moment.
I am praying…for our pastor’s wife who had retina operations and needs the Lord’s healing, and for my children’s music teacher whose aged mother is not at all well.
I am hearing ... Daniel clowning around for Eden and Nathan. Eden is filming his antics, and she and Nathan are laughing!
From the learning rooms… We seem to just be getting to the basics lately (language and maths) and it will go on like this until all the music exams are over.
Noticing that...Once again the season has changed before I’m ready to meet it!
From the kitchen… Supper tonight was creamy chicken and corn pasta with salads, Tuesday – Soup, Wednesday – Russian Cornbread-topped pie, Thursday – Crumbed fish with potato salad, Friday – Crusty Chicken Casserole with veggies.
Around the house... Nothing really interesting at the moment, The garden needs to be prepared for spring: pruning, cleaning, weeding etc.
One of my favorite things… Clean and tidy cupboards.
Plans for the rest of the week… The usual lessons (Eden has off this week), but she is auditioning for the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Festival as a soloist on Saturday. If she is accepted she’ll perform with them in November. It was her 16th birthday last Friday and we’ll be having family over on the weekend for tea.
From my picture journal… My sister's baby - Joel Emrys.  He missed being born on Eden's birthday by 10 minutes.  If he'd been a bit quicker, my sister and I would have had our eldest children born on the same day (16 years apart) what a coincidence!  Isn't he gorgeous??

  1. Felicity, praise God for Eden's audition. That's fantastic. I pray she is accepted and can play with them.

Congratulations to your sister. Children are such a blessing. Thanks for sharing your daybook - I enjoy reading it.

You are not reading anything? Hmmm-I'm going to be doing a giveaway tomorrow - pass by and enter to win the book - Feminine by Design. It's a very good read and Eden would love it too. It's made for teenage daughters, but moms benefit tremendously as well.

  2. Little Joel is beautiful! Have you given your baby things to your sister?

Wow! I'm praying Eden is able to do her best in the audition. I am SO eager to hear her play... someday ;-) My daughters are sad as their violin/viola teacher is moving this month.

It seems like you were just preparing for winter, doesn't it?! We are still having summer here ~ today was a gorgeous day, still warm at 83*F but the humidity is down. =)
(It's been more like 95*F with 95% humidity)

I'm gonna go check out Jasmine's book give away!

  3. Congratulations on your nephew! He's beautiful... you can say that when they're babies, then later they're handsome ;D

    How did the audition go?
