Our Canadian Baby

I grew up with pets.  Cats and dogs were always part of our family.  Malcolm and I were given two kittens within two months of getting married!  They disappeared unfortunately, and we were without any pets until Eden was 6 months old, when we got our first dog - a Golden Cocker Spaniel named Amber.  Many others were added (and most got old and died) - at one point we had 4 kids, 4 cats and 4 dogs!!

Anyway, by the time we left South Africa for Canada we were down to a single pet - our second Spaniel - Taffy.  I had prayed for months that we could find him a good home, and the Lord provided a VERY good, special home for him.  Friends from church were looking for a companion for their little dog, and Taffy was a hit from the go!

Here he is with his new friend, Peanuts:

and his new Mommy, Aneska, who loves him to bits!

The last month or so in South Africa we were so lonely without any pets, that we all decided we wanted one as soon as possible when we got here.  About 2 months after we landed, we got found a litter of kittens at a pet store, and bought one of them.  We named him Winston.

He is one spoilt kitty!!!

He's grown into a big cat, who has this thing about lying over your shoulders.

He really gets a lot of love and attention, but he likes going outside a lot, especially at night.  During the day I don't mind so much, but there are coyotes in the area, so I don't want him out at night.

We're actually really sorry we didn't take his sister too.  So now we're thinking of getting him a friend.  Maybe if there are two of them they'll be content to stay indoors more?

I've found someone with a litter of kittens of a breed I'd really like, so maybe soon we'll have another furry face in the house...
