I bought this book from CUM Books about two weeks ago. One thing that really comes to the fore in a large family is the different character-types and temperaments among the children. You know - one child instantly responds to 'The Look' while another doesn't seem to have ears at all! Keren is like that - nothing seems to change her behaviour much, and there are times when I despair! It doesn't help that the others call her naughty and think she gets away with everything... So when I spotted this book I grabbed it.
Sometimes it helps to read something like this (to me anyway!). It seems to take me 'away' from the problem, to view it from a distance, and then the solution generally becomes obvious.
The author defines the four main character/temperament types in terms of tree-types: Palm, Rose-bush, Lollipop (ornamental) and Pine, and then offers guidelines for discipline etc, with the idea of bending the tree without breaking it. That's about as far as I've got now, but I did find out that I'm a Lollipop!! Profiling the kids is not that easy, but I had a good laugh at myself... some of the comments were SO apt.
More posts as I read on...
